Wall printing questions, answered.
Everything visitors ask us most, kept plain and honest. If your question is not here, call or send us a note.
What is wall printing?+
Wall printing is direct to wall printing. A large format vertical printer applies UV cured ink straight onto the wall, so the image lives in the surface itself. There is no wallpaper, no vinyl and no seam.
What surfaces can you print on?+
Most well prepared interior surfaces work. Painted plasterboard, rendered walls, concrete, cement sheet, timber panels and, where suitable, glass and ceramic tile. A smooth, clean, sound surface gives the best result.
How long does a printed wall last?+
12 years indoors and 3 years outdoors, based on the ink manufacturer's rating. Interior walls in normal home and office conditions are the most stable environment for the print.
How long does printing take?+
A typical residential feature wall of six to ten square metres is printed in a few hours on the day. Larger commercial walls run for a full day. Wall preparation is done before print day so the on site time is predictable.
How tall can you print?+
Up to 3 metres from the finished floor in a single pass. Wider walls are printed in aligned sections that read as one image on the finished wall.
Do you print floors as well?+
Yes. The same direct to surface technology prints custom graphics, branding and artwork onto floors. See the floor printing page for suitable surfaces and applications.
See floor printing →Do I need to prepare the wall?+
Not usually. The wall is inspected before print day and any patching, sanding or base coating is quoted in advance. You do not need to do the preparation yourself.
Can you print my own photo or artwork?+
Yes. Send a high resolution file at print size and we prepare it for the wall. If the file is small or you only have an idea, our studio prepares print ready artwork at no extra charge. Licensed imagery is your responsibility.
Is the ink safe for kids rooms and childcare centres?+
The ink is UV cured on contact and free of solvents once cured. It is regularly used in childcare centres, nurseries and kids rooms. We can share the ink manufacturer's certification on request.
How much does wall printing cost?+
From $250 per square metre, with a minimum job of 4 square metres. Full colour costs the same as any other print. See the pricing page for a worked example and a calculator.
See pricing →Is it better than wallpaper or a hand painted mural?+
It depends on the room. Direct to wall printing has no seam and no adhesive layer, prints in hours instead of days, and holds photographic detail that hand painting cannot. Hand painted work has its own character. We are happy to say when a mural is the better choice.
What areas of Sydney do you cover?+
All of Sydney and surrounds. Sydney CBD, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Hills District, Western Sydney, Sutherland Shire and the surrounding regions.
